2012 Lamborghini Aventador J

Sunday, April 8, 2012

At the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, Automobili Lamborghini is presenting the most uncompromising open super sports car of its entire history. The Lamborghini Aventador J is a force of nature on wheels - supremely powerful and supremely open.
The Aventador J is based on the production Aventador LP700-4 but sits an inch and a half lower than the coupe and only shares a few body components including the front hood, fenders, headlights and rear fenders. The unique speedster lacks a roof and windshield but still manages to look super aggressive because of its factory aero package that include a front spoiler, side sills, rear diffuser, and a rear wing, all finished in black.
The engine is the 691 hp, mid-mounted 6.5-liter V-12 that is also seen in the Aventador coupe. The Aventador J also utilizes the coupes ISR transmission, pushrod suspension and all-wheel-drive layout. Lamborghini has stripped all of the luxurious amenities such as air conditioning and its audio system in order to reduce the weight to around 3,300lbs. The top speed of this speedster is somewhere over 211 mph / 300 kmh.

The specialists at Lamborghini have developed an even more amazing version of carbon fiber material for the Aventador J. In its first automotive application, this carbon fiber fabric called "Carbonskin" is made of woven carbon fibers soaked with a very special epoxy resin that stabilizes the fiber structure and keeps the material soft. Like a hi-tech fabric, the carbon fiber mats fit perfectly to every shape. In the Aventador J, the complete cockpit and parts of the seats are clad in this material and shimmer in matt carbon fiber black. It's conceivable that in future there will be many potential applications for this freshly patented and extremely fine-looking material, even very high-end clothing.

Rumors are that the designer, Filippo Perini, sketched the car’s rendering in one weekend and then it took Lamborghini an unbelievable six weeks to build the Aventador J. Everything about this vehicle melds into one another making it into the ultimate high-performance two-seater, driving machine. This exquisite one-off speedster has already sold for $2.74 million to an anonymous buyer. It is now considered a piece of art to many and will forever be known in history as the unica Lamborghini Aventador J- the one and only.
